Welcome to the offical Gamecock Flight Club at USC website!

Mission

Gamecock Flight Club at USC was formed with the goal to help students, faculty, alumni, and associate members attain their private pilot certificate, and pass the FAA written examination, in a structured and safe learning environment.

Goal

The goal of our first year as a new student organization is to make the USC campus and community aware of the benefits our club has to offer to aviation enthusiasts. We encourage future members to bring their ideas to the table, and we look forward to seeing you up in the air soon!

As a short-term goal we hope to grow our membership through membership drives and social events. Field trips, tours, aviation industry related conferences are just a few of the social activities we look forward to having. Leave room in your calendar to network with the Gamecock Flight Club at USC for the school year 2011-2012.

In the long-term the Gamecock Flight Club at USC is looking to obtain its own aircraft for use by club members for training and leisure.

History

The first flight club at USC was originally founded by Robert L. Sumwalt, Director of National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), in the 70’s.

The Gamecock Flight Club at USC reorganized as a new student organization on campus as of Fall Semester 2011.
