Points: In order to maintain good standing and membership in Gamma Beta Phi you will need to earn 1 community point, 1 activity point, and 1 meeting point. Each of these points can be obtained by participating in an activity in that category. In order to get a meeting point you must attend two mandatory meetings and two additional meetings. The required 5 hours of community service to satisfy the Community Point can be done on a member's own time at a place of his or her choosing. We encourage our members to devote their time to community service in the local area, however, performing community service locally is not an obligation. List serv: The GBP list serv is a program that routes emails sent to it to all of the subscribers. It is the best way to stay on top of what is happening in GBP and around campus. To subscribe email listserv@listserv.sc.edu The name and subject lines should be blank. In the body type: Subscribe gambephi (your first name) (your last name). If you have subscribed you should receive two emails immediately. Problems? History: The Gamma Beta Phi Society was established in 1964 as an honor and service organization. The name of the organization is derived form the initial letters of the Greek words for education, life, and friendship. The group's motto Progressus per Eruditionem means "Progress through Education." Objectives: 1. To recognize and encourage individual excellence in education 2. To promote the development of leadership ability and character in its members 3. To foster and improve education through service |
