Welcome Message from LISSA’s President

Welcome to the School of Library and Information Science at USC Columbia! As you plan for your upcoming academic career, we hope that you will pursue a membership with the Library and Information Science Student Association (LISSA).  LISSA is a professional organization of graduate students pursuing LIS degrees, affiliated with the American Library Association.

Because the majority of the classes you will take are 100% asynchronous, it can be hard to get involved with the rest of the student body—especially if you don’t live in Columbia!  LISSA works hard to provide access and involvement for out-of-town members through Livestreams of our monthly meetings and fostering affiliate chapters.  We’re also always happy to have you visit! Columbia offers wonderful opportunities for good times, volunteering, and involvement with leading LIS conferences like SCLA.  With LISSA you can be a part of it.  We foster peer and professional relationships within the student body as well as throughout the library community.

If you have any additional questions, please email me directly at landj2@email.sc.edu.  We look forward to meeting you soon!
