Spring Inductees at the Sunrise Service 2007
Omicron Delta Kappa Society is the national leadership honor society for college students, faculty staff, administrators, and alumni that recognizes and encourages superior scholarship, leadership, and exemplary character. Membership in ODK is a mark of the highest distinction and honor.
The Chi Circle was founded at the University of South Carolina on May 20, 1927, and is the oldest leadership society on campus. We place emphasis upon the development of the whole person, both as a present member of the college community and as a prospective contributor to a better society. We believe that while good scholarship and intellectual development are the chief objectives of one's college years, the life of the mind is not the only life with which students will be faced as a result of their college experience. Other indispensable qualities must also be cultivated. Through our activities we demonstrate the importance of the real search for truth, the promotion of good will, the development of consideration and understanding, good taste, and a sense of honor, learning how to cooperate easily with others, and the assumption of duty and responsibility.
New members are inducted in the fall and spring semesters, and the officer terms run throughout the academic year beginning at the end of the spring semester. We sponsor Awards Day each spring, we engage in community service including an annual Arbor Day event. There are many ways to become involved in Omicron Delta Kappa, and we welcome the chance to interact intimately with all of our members.
