校內打工
與台灣大學不同，美國大學校園內有很多專為學生提供的工作機會，有些甚至是純粹為學生製造的工作機會。還有不少美國大學特別利用學生的工作機會，用來取代部分行政人員，以減輕學校的龐大人事開支。總的來說，美國大學校內的打工機會很多。而且，學校由於怕影響到學生的學習，很多工作不僅較為輕鬆，時間也不會太長，此外，校內打工也較為方便，不需東奔西跑，可節省許多時間和精力。
想在校內打工的人，到學校國際學生顧問辦公室或學校財務輔助辦公室去詢問，即可獲知校內的大致打工機會。通常這些辦公室會主動將校內工作機會的資料，郵寄到繫上或公開張貼。有興趣的人平時只要多注意繫上的廣告欄，以及校園內廣告和學校的報紙，就可發現很多校內打工的機會。大略而言，美國大學校內打工機會較多的地方主要有以下幾個方面:
圖書館：美國大學圖書館為學生提供的工作機會較多。而且，圖書館環境單純，工作也不很重，是最名正言順的半工半讀地方。剛到美國打工，可首先到圖書館詢問。
電腦房：美國大學的電腦房，一般也會聘用很多學生作電腦助理，為使用電腦的學生提供資訊和現場幫助。如對電腦有足夠的知識，可到學校電腦房去申請當助理。
學校餐廳：美國大學一般都設有餐廳，除管理人員與廚師外，其他工作人員往往聘請學生擔任，工作機會較多。這種工作輕鬆簡單，除有經濟收入之外，還可解決吃飯的問題。
學生宿舍：美國大學本科學生的宿舍都設有宿舍管理助理，一般均由研究生來承擔。這種工作除可享受免費住宿的好處外，還可有一些經濟收入，也不會佔用很多時間。
此外，學校行政單位或系裡經常需要徵求行政助理、秘書等，甚至需要司機、清潔工等。這些工作學生都可承擔。學校書店、校警等機構也會僱傭學生，有興趣的人可去申請。如有教中文的經驗，則不妨到校內中文班去應聘作助教工作。
總之，在美國大學校內打工合法又方便，機會也很多，只要願意幹、願意找，就一定會有。唯一要注意的，是每週工作不要超過一定時數。另外，也不要耽誤學習。
