POLICY
This policy has been
adapted and modified from the University of South Carolina’s web site
policy for the purpose of providing guidelines and regulations for
student organizations who will have a website on the Student Affairs web server.
Part I-University of South
Carolina
All web sites that
are found on University computers and related systems must meet
certain minimum criteria in terms of technical style and format. The
required components for style and format of web sites are delineated
below. The University retains the right to modify or delete any web
site located on University computers and related systems that do not
conform to these minimum criteria or to University policies.
Department
supervisors and personal web site publishers are responsible for their
own web sites. This includes: adherence to copyright law;
compliance with local, state, and federal laws; compliance with this
policy and other University policies; maintaining the currency and
accuracy of information; and maintaining as high editorial standards
in spelling and grammar.
Part II-Student Affairs
The allocation of
space on the Student Affairs server for a student organization website
is permitted only with the permission of the department supervisor
responsible for that server. Student organizations that wish to create
or maintain a web site on the Student Affairs server must be a
properly registered student organization.
The webmaster
reserves the right to delete or modify any website information if the
basic requirements are not met (i.e. profanity, nudity, copyright
infringement, style and formatting requirements).
Student organization
web sites will not be linked from the University’s or Student Affairs
home pages, with the exception of Student Government, which operates
as a department of Student and Alumni Services. A link will be
provided from the student organization website to any registered
student organization.
Student organization web sites should display
some form of contact information for that organization.
